HPG 1010 ABP

This compressed air cannon is specifically designed for testing FIA helmet shells. It is capable of launching darts compliant with FIA 8860-ABP standards at speeds up to 100 m/s. It features a dedicated headform holder with a laser targeting system for precise alignment. The unit comes with a custom aluminum case and is fully operated via dedicated PC software. Data acquisition is performed using an additional QASM7 card.

  • Frame: Made of anodized aluminum ITEM profiles.

  • Pressure Vessel: Steel compressed-air loading tank with loading and exhaust solenoid valves
  • Firing Mechanism: Special high-speed firing valve actuated by a pneumatic cylinder.
  • Loading: Breech mechanism equipped with a safety sensor for aluminum dart loading.
  • Sample Handling: Bi-directional sliding headform holder with position lock. Two cables keep the headform suspended, allowing it to oscillate freely after the dart impacts the helmet.
  • Pressure Control: Air-pressure loading system with an analog pressure gauge, interfaced with the PC via an integrated QASM7 board.
  • Data Logging: Second QASM7 board with 3 analog inputs for 3 accelerometers to be installed in the headform. Data acquisition software is supplied together with a PC and a second screen.
  • System Management: Velocity recording and automated functions managed by proprietary GTM software via a USB-connected PC.
  • Enclosure: Aluminum ITEM profiles, 4 mm aluminum sheet test cabinet featuring a transparent polycarbonate viewing window and an integrated door safety switch.
  • Accessories: 3 hard aluminum and steel darts included according to FIA 8860-ABP standards.
  • Performance: Maximum velocity up to 100 m/s.
